Scanning direct to Email in the IC

From today Monday 16th April 2012, we are running a new trial service of Scan to Email. You will be able to scan images directly to your inbox, which are pdf by default.

Initially, this will be available on the 2 Pre-Pay Photocopiers on Level One of the Information Commons, and it will be expanded if successful.

There is no charge for this service. Instructions can be found on our web page below and further help is available from staff in the IC.

Windows 7 Desktop Pilot extended in IC

From Monday 16th April the computers on Level 1 of the IC will have the new Windows 7 Desktop.

There will be no automatic log off and no PC availability data for these computers and they are not bookable.  The plasma screens will give information about these changes and staff in the IC will also give any support required.

If issues arise with this service out of hours (i.e.Friday evenings and the weekends) please send an email to to with the subject of "Windows7 Query" and it will be forwarded appropriately.

Bookable Student PCs now in Western Bank Library

CiCS has extended its myPC booking system to include 38 computers on Level 6 of Western Bank Library, in the Architecture Section. 

Up until now this has only been available in the IC but has proved to be such a popular service we are piloting it in WBL.

'Top Ten' ranking for the University

Out of 50 leading UK and US Universities we have scored the highest for being the most receptive and responsive for social media. We were also highly rated in 'popularity' - measured by site traffic, followers, references, fans and views - as well as interaction with users.
